Whether its because the engine is undersquare or whatever, bothers me not at
all. The six pot lump just sounds good. The other day and just for fun, I
taped a hand-held tape recorder to the rear bumper, set it to record and
then set off for a spirited drive. The best bit was overtaking a Mercedes
with the revs showing 3500 and just as the overdrive kicked in in 3rd gear.
Sounded lousy on playback through the recorder but a different and FAR
better noise on the hi-fi in the house. In fact, it sounds so good, I'm
wondering how I can convert that noise to use as an alternative ring on my
newly acquired mobile phone.
I'd really like to have the sound of a woman screaming before the machine
gun gets going as a doorbell but it might upset the neighbours.
