Hi,
Thru Ebay I got a 60's tailpipe for a TR3. It was not stock, it was an
Empi, I believe. Originally the TR3 had a 7' tailpipe which included both a
muffler and a resonator.
My question is which end of the Empi tailpipe (also 7') should face the
front of the car. The Empi has only 1 muffler which is longer than the
stock muffler with 36" of tailpipe coming out of the muffler on one end, and
22" coming out of the other end of it's 26" muffler.
The difference turning it around makes is that 5" of it will be under
the rear floorboard while turning it around makes more of it under the spare
tire compartment. I'm not familar with exhaust systems, but I doubt if this
one only works in one direction, tell me if I'm wrong! Also, all tailpipe
fittings on it are the same size.
