GT6 Seat foam

Hi
I am in the process of recovering my 68 GT6 seats.  I have a seat foam 
kit for them from Rimmer's and the instructions are not clear.

So for one on the list has used this foam:
My question is about the 2 large wrap pieces that are glued together.  
Did you lay the pieces flat and pull the ends together as you glued 
them?  All on the same plane so there was no overlap of the foam pieces?
