The problem with that idea is that on engines with a fixed rocker pivot
(like Triumphs), changing the length of the pushrod does not alter the
rocker geometry.

In order to alter the geometry of rocker to valve, you have to move the
pivot point relative to the end of the valve (or alter the rocker itself).  

Changing pushrod length only makes a difference to geometry on engines where
the pivot point is moved to adjust valve lash (like most American engines).
