The same data sheet goes on to say that "...it can also be used for the 
coating [sic] for pre-formed gaskets..."

However, you definitely want to use it sparingly.

If a gasket is under very high pressure, blowing out may indeed be a 
concern, but for most of what you'd use it on in a TR engine, you can use it 
without worry.  The good side of this is that it usually prevents the gasket 
sticking so hard you can't disassemble it again.  In a valve cover, etc, you 
can usually reuse the gasket after adjustments, etc.

Just remember that if you use it with a gasket, you're trying to improve the 
seal of the gasket, not gluing things together.  Only takes a little.
