When power output dropped from 150 to 125 with the introduction of the mild=
er =

cam, the factory claimed it had improved torque.=A0IMHO I always felt the e=
arlier =

PI car had more=A0torque than the later one. Drove many versions of both PI =

varieties, as well as the US spec variant, and the only thing about the lat=
er PI =

variant was it was certainly a smoother running car and better in heavy tra=
ffic. =

The key reason for introducing the 125bhp car was that the cam=A0made the P=
I for =

Germany and France a little better for early emission control requirements =
in =

those countries and as those regulations were soon to go into more Euro mar=
kets, =

it was decided to make the car 'fit' forthcoming legislation.
