I was replacing the brake light switch on my 59 TR3A today (have brake =
likes yea!) and discovered two things I could use some help on.
1st the brake lights. Upon testing the lights I saw that the passenger =
side was half the brightness of the drivers side. Checked bulbs, =
switched bulbs, no change. Checked ground and socket connections. No =
change. The hell of it, I ran a jumper from the hot side of the drivers =
side to the other. No change. Except when I touched the jumper to the =
light base, both bulbs shine equally bright. So you know the rest. =
However, this is not right and it is beyond my electrical skills. Any =
hints on this one would put it all right.
2nd item, when fiddling with the switch, I noticed that the passenger =
wheel seamed loose. Checked the bearings the usually way, a little =
loose, but no big shakes. Then I noticed that the two bolts that attach =
the rod lever to the vertical link were loose. They have nyloc nuts. =
Tried to tighten them and they will not tighten down. They also will not =
unscrew. My guess is the threads are stripped on the two bolts as they =
both do the same thing. Does anyone know the length and thread size of =
these two bolts. I would rather not pay 2.00 each and $10 shipping for =
something I can get locally for $2.00.
All suggestions and information appreciated.
