I have had this happen from a leak at the outlet fitting.  To test for a
specific leak I clean everything up then take one of those blue gas station
paper towels and feel around fittings -- those towels show any fluif as a
nice dark spot.  That outlet with the strange olive can be hard to get
sealed.
