One thing I don't recall seeing in this thread are ramps. I have a few
sets of car ramps (Advance Auto Parts, $40, http://tinyurl.com/7tzdsuv).
They're rated to 8,000 pounds, and easily support my Suburban. When my
Spitfire is running, I can drive up on them; when she's not running I jack
the car up normally then put these under the tires. Not very helpful if
you're taking the wheels off, but these are maneuverable enough to slide
under the frame.
