I presume you are referring to the tapered shaft end of the tie Rod?  To re=
move the tie rod end you are best served buy buying a Tie Rod End Separator=
, easily obtainable at your FLAPS.( also handy for self-defense)

 

It is a forked wedge that slips right on top of the ball joint, sometimes a=
 few well place taps, sometime a significant whack will get the job done.  =
