Speaking of Fred I=92d like to take the opportunity to offer up for =
distribution the FT memorial stickers and =93clingers=94. I believe I =
got these from Marty Sukey at some point in the past and promptly lost =
them in one of my many piles of stuff. They resurfaced when I was =
looking for something else=85that always happens.

I=92m going to be at VTR starting next Tuesday and will have them with =
me. So if you remember Fred Thomas or if you=92re one of the 1000=92s he =
ever helped with any powder coating related tasks (he taught me how), or =
if he helped you find a part or make a repair, or if you just want a =
remembrance of one the icons of the Triumph community then ask me at VTR =
or pick one up at the car show where they will be on my car windshield =
for the taking.

Freddie was more than just a powder coating guru. He set the standard, =
at least the one I strive for, on how to be a Triumph owner. And that =
was to make your car as nice as you can, make it as reliable as you can, =
and drive it as much as you can. I=92ll always have a FT sticker on my =
car and on my tool boxes so I=92ll never forget that lesson.

Here=92s a couple pics to show what the stickers and clingers look like.

My first Fred story is this. After watching me do a 360 in the =
autocross Fred came up introduced himself and suggested some different =
tire pressures. I was willing but had no air tank or compressor so Fred =
went to one of his many friends and found one and brought it back to me. =
That was the start of a great friendship.=20

I still have a picture of the oil drips Fred=92s TR3A left on my =
driveway when he and Dan Masters came by my house on the way to VTR 2001 =
in Breckenridge. Yes, even FT=92s car leaked a little.

Second story. I called Fred to ask him a question right before the 2004 =
VTR and he told me he=92d been in his work pit, (the old fashioned below =
ground level type) that only Fred had, and had been waxing his frame. =
Only Fred waxed his frame before VTR. But then only Fred won as many =
best of show awards as he did.
