Hi Sujit,

 

I went down this same road a few years ago when I had the same issue.

 

I went as far as talking to the engineering dept at Castrol and they assured
me that Castrol has always been synthetic; the bottle just never said so
until now.  They did also confirm that the fluid in the newer black bottle
is the exact same formulation as the old white bottle.  So, I've been using
the Castrol black bottle for a few years now.

 

I have always used Castrol in all my British cars for the last 40 years with
no issues; that's what fluid these cars were designed for.  I also buy in
small bottles, but don't go so far as to throw out what I don't use.  I just
make sure that the bottle is tightly sealed.

 

I'm not an advocate of upgrading to DOT 5 or anything else.  Some people
have had good luck with it, but I don't see a compelling reason to switch.
Castrol/Girling for me.
