This is a classic symptom of a failed diode in the alternator.=C2=A0 If yo=
u are handy you can replace the diode assembly but you need a good, hot sol=
dering iron.=C2=A0 If you don't wish to tear into it you can get a rebuilt =
alternator for not too much money.
Welcome to the list.

As this is a discussion about charging, I have a TR5 (similar to a TR250 in=
US). =C2=A0When the engine is running at low rpms, the ammeter shows a sli=
ght negative (discharge) and the ignition light (no charge light on the Spe=
edometer) is on. =C2=A0At higher revs (3500), the ammeter shows a positive =
reading but the no charge light is still on but not as bright. =C2=A0Multim=
eter shows a voltage of 10.3 v at idle and 13.5 v at higher rpm (3500) at t=
he voltage regulator wire to the no charge light. =C2=A0Battery voltage is =
12.5 v with engine off. =C2=A0Any ideas? =C2=A0
