Dave,

The aparent concensus from the Rennlist (was Porschelist) where DOT R
compound tires are a frequent topic is, in order of preference:

Hoosier
Kumho
BFG G-Force (jury still out)
Yoko 

I am on the A032s with my '84 Carrera since I wore out my BFG R-1s.  The
R-1s were slightly better in the corners on the track but had a harsher
ride.  I don't have firsthand experience with the others but I suspect
for street use it would be a toss up.  The only problem with the 032s is
that they are noisy.  They sure have a distinctive look though.
