I restored a nasty Nardi wheel for my old Bocar. My prime consideration at 
the time was cosmetic (duh). It looked great when I was finished but it was 
sure hard to grip and that Bocar required a lot of serious wheel twisting. 
Finally I wrapped it with thick string like the old prewar Bentleys. Gave it 
a lot better grip and looked at least a little period. Now I prefer a 
leather-wrapped wheel for grip.
