Several flywheel explosions have been reported over the last year or so.

I am curious to know if these were modified/stock steel flywheels, or aluminum.
I imagine an aluminum flywheel would shed a lot less energy than steel, but is 
more difficult to
crack test since you have to use a dye method.

If steel, have any debris shown fatigue crack creep such as would be detected 
by annual magnaflux?
