My understanding is that slightly warmed (not hot) oil flows out of the sump
more quickly and completely.
I don't think that any significant amount of oil remains in the upper part of
the engine for more than a few minutes after shutdown. It pretty quickly
drains back into the sump and then on out into your collection pan.
Or I could be totally wrong.
