I had the same thing happen on my 84 Chevy van. If you do not line up the slots on the end of the torque converter with the tangs on the transmission gear you can shear the tangs off when you bolt up

Like Chuck had mentioned, your torque converter probably didn't engage the pump gears. When you put the torque converter in and rotate it, it will make two "clunks" (pretty technical term). The first

My '75 car rolls with the transmission in park if there is any incline at all. I always have to set the parking brake. Is there an adjustment I can make or some part which is easily replaced? Scott I
