In a car with Girling or Lockheed brake components you should use the Girling brake fluid or silicon (Hope I don't start anouther long discussion on silicon) as the rubber seals used in these systems

Someone already mentioned motorcycle fork oil/fluid. This is available at any well stocked motorcycle shop. I believe it is available in differing levels of firmness (viscosity). Bill Sohl

Mike, I noticed something tonight working on a 73 TR6 that the on the top of the brake resovor the cap says, "use only clean DOT 3 fluid ", strange that I always thougt this would rot the seals too.
