I'm in the process of re-doing my suspension and a pleasant surprise was that the upper ball joint is adjustable. A spring, seat and an exterior adjustment mechanism. Cool!! Mine was not work at all

Yes you do have to heat it up - 400 F for 20-30 minutes. Not high enough to do some structural changes to the steel, but hot enough to melt it. Others have replied that springs get powder coated reg
