One possible problem could be the springs on the end of the throttle shafts. There is a left and right. If you put them on backwards, it would make your throttle plates tend to spring too the open p

I believe that Abingdon spares did have the double spare wheel carriers. you might try them. The Solid disk wheels were only used on the first 250 TDs made. Then they went to the perforated wheels.

The adjuster only adjusts the timming a small amount. To do it right, you have to put the adjuster on zero. Then loosen the distrbutor. Attach a timing lite, and turn the whole thing back and forth
