My '71 B has the "upright" canister type oil filter that was used on '68-early '70 B's (car has non-original block, but original head, etc). Everything I've read on this filter setup has been negativ

I would like to know this one as well. Is there an adaptor for the screw on types that are used on later cars that I can replace my system with? (I have a '70)

The filter from a Ford 4.9L inline 6 ( late F-150 trucks) will screw right on, and has the anti-siphon valve built in. Use a good quality filter as the valve in the cheapies often don't work well. H.

The Moss oil filter adapter, I believe you are thinking of is the 235-940. It will not easily clear the late (68-) starter motor. It is designed to work with the earlier, shorter starters. Kelvin.
