- It would work, but seems like a lot more work than putting on a new skin. As far as metalwork goes, putting on a new skin is pretty far up the "EASY" chain. A lot easier than butt welding in a patch

- Who is paying for this? It sounds expensive what ever way you go especially since a door is so cheap. I would look around for a good used door either way you still would have to paint it. Short of do
