Rich, First thing I would check is, strangely, the ground strap to your engine. If the ground has ungrounded, the electrical system will try to ground through the throttle cable, among other places,

Rich, check to see if you have the return springs mounted inside the SU covers. If one or both are missing, the piston may not be returning properly and thus, your engine could run rough and/or stall
