- My 80 Spit suddenly developed a leak at the fuel pump. At first, it was seeping gas from around the cover, so I replaced the rubber gasket, which stopped the leak there, but then it began to leak fur

- This unit has a "cap" that houses a small nylon filter screen. The gasket I was referring to is a seal for this cap. The actual pump chambers are in a sealed cylinder, so I can't see if the diaphragm

- One serious consideration is if you want to keep the car original or not. I've seen several used OEM hardtops in prices from $100-$300. Even if you have to replace the head liner that's pretty reason
