Dan, The snaps work fine with the carpet as long as it is not to thick. Use care in bending the "fingers" that hold the two half's together. We have padding under our carpet which makes it a tad hard

That panel had "wings" stapled to both sides, and they were glued to the side panel that the letter box vents are on. That way, the corner was not exposed, as it was covered by the vinyl wings. Then
