Do you know for sure that it's the tumbler and not the separate electrical switch that not functioning? There is a small set screw facing down that holds the electrical switch to the mechanical port

The P.O. of my car pulled the cigarette lighter and put a starter switch there. Not too pretty, but it gets the job done. I'd eventually like to replace it with an ignition switch that locks, but th

I just had the same problem on a 74 Midget. I removed the plastic column cowl and stuck in an early MG ignition switch. I used a couple large washers and it fit the hole where the old key switch was.
