More likely just accumulated wear in various linkages. Check the hole in the end of the clutch pedal, clevis to the MC, clevis from the slave and the lever on the side of the transmission. A broken

for To support what Randall says here, I had a TR4A disc relined for $35.00 in Cleveland, OH this past winter. They even did it while I waited one Saturday morning. It's working fine. JVV Check out

In my opinion, if you have to take the gearbox out, you should renew everything that is even slightly worn or suspect. I did it in January when my clutch failed at 56,000 miles. The following was do
