Time to pull the engine and rebuild. Anything else would be like a Band-Aid on a machete wound. /// triumphs@autox.team.net mailing list /// or try http://www.team.net/cgi-bin/majorcool /// Archives

Thats pretty good in comparison to my white Sports 6 original lump. I finally got the engine running but I had a built in neighborhood fogger when it did run. So hopefully you don't have such a fogg

The fact that two adjacent cylinders are showing low compression could imply a bad head gasket. Any sign of coolant in oil? I would check this out before you pull the engine. Michael Marr 1960 TR3A W

After you check the valve lash, you can get an adaptor at the local autoparts store that screws into the spark plug hole so you can inject air into the cylinder. Do this with that cylinder down and b

You can get this adaptor at Napa auto parts. If I recall it was between 10$ and 20$. I used it to change a broken exhaust valve spring on my 6 on my 6 instead of pulling the head. Roger After you che

FWIW, I made mine, by using the fitting from a compression gauge (the kind that screws in rather than just being held over the hole). There's a Schrader valve inside the fitting that has to be remove

Kinda doubt that--the reason cylinders have the same reading when there's a gasket leaking between them is because the pressures are equalizing through leakage. If that were the case, the wet reading

Yeah, there's no reason not to, but I think that engine's gonna have to come apart. With dry/wet compression pressures like that, there are certainly some cylinders that have some valve problems. How

Yup, I would agree. And if you're gonna do rings, do bearings. And that means a crank regrind, probably. It just goes on and on... Michael Marr 1960 TR3A Whitewater, WI /// triumphs@autox.team.net ma

Umm, I'm not so sure this is always true. If the two cylinders are adjacent in the firing sequence, their valve overlap won't be the same from one to the other. (I confess I haven't thought this out
