When you say the "dip" switch still works, I assume you meant the "flash-to-pass" feature? Power to the dimmer switch for this function comes from the fuse box, via a purple wire. This allow you to

In Germany on a recent trip, I observed drivers using the left blinker to indicate to the car in front they'd better get out of the way. Apparently using your headlights to flash people is not legal
