The paint that I have found under all of the grease on my 1C motor, 1C-H/37718 as well as the transmission has been the Healey Green. As far as we can tell this motor has never been out of the car.

You just solved a mystery for me. My Longbridge car had a new upholsty kit installed fairly recentlly in its life. Everything was done but the squab, which had been carpeted instead of upholstered.
