I've noticed vehicles from the desert or midwest rust really fast after they are brought back to the rustbelt. they need protecting inside and out, a very conscientious job, if they are to hold up.

YOu need tight fitting wheels. Some trucks took 9/16 lugs, which would be the 1.5 ton axles, and others took 5/8" studs which was 2 ton rating. ( you may find exceptions to this for later AD trucks).
