On the rear carpets there should be a plastic 'popper' and on the rear bodywork just above the lights there should be a hole..the popper goes in the hole! Or it does on my GT (1978) -- Carl Mole C.M

1978 MGB GT The problem was that the fuel gauge was not working at all , temperature gauge erratic. Replaced the Voltage regulator , now the fuel gauge only registers half way (fuel tank full) temper
