I believe that the noise is from the input shaft bearing on the tranny. The tranny must be removed to replace the bearing. It is possible to replace the bearing without tearing down the transmission

The noise is emanating from the front bearing in the transmission. The throwout bearing would make noise when the clutch pedal is depressed. James stated that the noise would stop when the pedal was
