MkI, MkII, MkIII Spitfires have 4.11 with small flanges, so you cannot just bolt one into a '72. I'd be tempted to take a 3.89 with the plan to install a 1500 or another tweeked engine. The stock '72

They're called splines. You can't change the input shaft if it's a fine spline clutch plate, just get a clutch plate for a 1500 up thru 1974, same spline setup. Everything else should work fine. I pu

Did you just install the XR700? Perhaps the installation of the sensor unit is such that the cap-rotor are not in sync when the unit fires? Re-adjust this appropriately... Easy mistake... Clark

I am considering having the head on my Spitfire milled down to give me a little more compression. It is a stock 80 head so it is currently about 7.5 to 1. I am thinking of taking it to about 9 to 1.
