The reason gas is relatively inexpensive in the US is because we own guns. If lawmakers raised the taxes on fuel as high as they are in Europe, they'd be shot.

SECAM is French in origin. The only reason it exists is so the French wouldn't have to use a color standard that wasn't invented in France. I guess any Asian countries that use it are former colonies

PAL is 625 lines as opposed to NTSC's 525 lines, so PAL is noticably sharper, but the 25 fps frame rate results in noticable, and some would say objectionable flicker. Still, Ol' NTSC is pretty good

I recall that the owner's manual for my 1968 MGB said that jump starting other cars could damage the voltage regulator. Was that just over-caution on the part of the authors?
