This subject brings up a question since I'm going to get new tires by spring. I have a 79 rubber bumper and do not have overdrive. I do some 70 MPH + highway driving so I want as tall a tire as I can

Thanks for the feedback. The old alternator was definately not working so no worry about dumping a good one. It has an internal regulator with diodes which is what I think is what went bad on it. Th
