I'd bet on the gas thing - I had almost the same problem. Let a friend talk me into changing starters. My problem was with the pick-up tube in the gas tank. It had a leak that wouldn't feed the engin

Mine uses #8-32 x 1/2" screws (shorter 3/8" would be better). The blocks for the adjusters are hard to find - I did find a modern type at NAPA that's a plastic (nylon) the right size to clip in then

I must agree with Perry - MIS-MOUNTING tires is deadly. Actually, mounting the 16" tires on 16.5" rims is a more frequent death trap than the other way just due to the relative availablity of the rim

I assume my '48 3600 rear end is similar design. It's not too difficult. Need a large socket, 1 5/8" for mine, to remove yoke. Then unbolt seal/bearing housing flange. Mine had two seals - a felt sea
