I took my TR3 radiator to a radiator shop, and they re-cored it with a new, more efficient core, which was the same size (perhaps slightly thicker, tho you'd hardly notice). It cools more efficiently

I've seen this trick done with lit matches and burning cigarettes. The gasoline definitely extinguishes the match or cigarette. You hear a "phhhht" sound, just as you would if you were using water. T
