Sounds like the pick up tube came off/loose. Yes you can pull the pan quicker then removeing the valve covers. The only thing that needs to be removed is the starter. HTH Doug

Have you checked the engine with a mechanical gauge? After rereading your message you could have a bad hookup etc. If a Ford gets low oil pressure you will here lifters unless you are running solids.
