It can also be a defective Master cylinder which will not let the brake fluid bleed back into the reservoir once the pressure is off the pedal. The only solution to that is replacing the master cylin

The 216 is a "low speed engine" because it uses Babbitt bearings (vice more modern "insert" bearings) and is . . . Gutless. With the stated criteria of "near original" and "stick shift," I'd suggest
