Mark--thx for the reply. I'm noit quite clear on the circuit, however, especially the "neg to frame" specification. I'm looking at a MkII Sprite at the moment, and will probably tuck it into a corner

Good input. Since my 100-4 has a mechanical tach, I did not have to take that step when I wnet from pos to neg grd. Could you detail this phase of the conversion a bit more? thx John Trifari 1955 AH

A couple of things: I have not tried to hook up a radio this way and only mentioned this technique in passing. My 1955 Healey was converted to neg ground. Again, I was only responding to another LBC

so what does all this mean? That you can't hook up a pos ground radio in a neg ground car becasue of the antenna? Maybe it means we should all convert to neg ground--as I have done--and eliminate the

Dave--check the fuses. If you've inserted a fuse between the hot terminals (a1/a2) and teh accessory terminals (a3/a4) the car will run ok but you will get a generator light. -- John Trifari 1980 MGB

John--I'm dropping out of this thread before we hit the Guiness Book. Please don't misunderstand my position on all this. I do not use or recommend converters, or positive ground systems in LBCs and

I hear converters whine. If you don't want to convert to neg ground, why not just insuilate the radio from the frame and and power it directly off the battery? Better yet, convert it to neg graound.
