In Minnesota, they put a dye in home heating oil. It stains the inside of the tank. This is to detect people using non-taxed heating oil in diesels. Fuel oil around here in NE Minnesota is around 1.

Are you sure it's ignition? A fuel problem that lets the carb drain out or gives a lean mixture on startup could cause this too. Are you feeding 12 volts to the coil (bypassing the ballast resistor)
