The truck starters for manual transmissions had foot pedal switches. Trucks with autos and, I think, cars, had solenoid starters. I believe the ring gears are different. BTW, this is a 12 volt starte

My dad owned a 250 6 in a 67 3/4 ton Sub with granny low 4 speed when I was in high school. It would pull or haul anything a 3/4 ton pickup would. With the 6, you just won't do much freeway cruising
