There should be very little play, if you can turn it say 1/2" then you've got a problem. My guess would be the thrust washers in your rear end. There is a book that goes into detail on how to change

No relation between arc and oxy-acetayne. But if you get good with the torch then you won't need the arc welder. For most everything you do a torch will work and will not destort the metal as much. F

I think you are refering to the metal donut gasket. It is a pain to get at but not difficult to fix from under the car. Put plenty of PB Blaster on the studs and heat them with a torch if necessary.
