For those who are curious it was a 66 that I restored the first time in '79 and then re-restored in 91 when I switched from lacquer paint to a 2 pak paint. The entire car was gutted and bead blasted.

I guess that a small quantity used periodically, but not every fill up, may be beneficial to clean out the motor, but as you said, acetone is not friendly to a lot of the materials in the fuel system
