The disc may be stuck to the flywheel. You should be able to free it with some creative tactics. I would try bumping the starter ever so slightly with the car in gear and the clutch pedal up.

Your problem sounds electrical. A fuel problem would have had a different feel when it died. You could tell it was starving for fuel. It could be anything from distributor to ignition switch.
