I assume that you are talking about the plastic trunnion bushings... I have found they could always be inserted by hand, but you had to push pretty hard. Possibly you got front and rear bushings mixe

The cable should go straight down through the hole in the "shelf" portion of the firewall, which is directly over the accelerator pedal. It definitely does NOT go through the holes in the brake/clut

About the one with the blunt reverse teeth: Try taking the reverse idler gear seeing if its teeth mesh with the blunt teeth. I suspect they might not mesh well, and would chew each other up. Doug Bra
