It's true that a lot of 6 volt gens. put out enough voltage for a 12 volt system, but I'm not sure of the longevity of this setup; I'm doing it now & have had to have the gen serviced 3 times since (

Reach in under the dash toward the back of the switch toward the passenger side & there is a small spring loaded button. Press in on that while pulling on the knob. Look it over when you get it out.
