Napa/Echlin makes neat little voltage reducers (PNVT6187) which you can wire in parallel or series, depending on the amp load you have to handle. As I recall, they're not expensive. Regards, Grant S.

I think Ron's problem is unlikely to be the ground, since the gauge apparently worked fine before his conversion to 12 volts. Rather, the problem is the gauge itself, which was designed for six volts
